The Institute for the Study of Human Knowledge (ISHK) is an educational institution dedicated to publicizing research on human nature that is useful to the general public.
With Directors and associates who include educators, brain scientists, biologists, ecologists, physicians, sociologists, novelists, historians and others, ISHK focuses on communicating new insights that come from a broad base of cutting-edge information. In the mid-1970's, research on the link between the mind and disease was conclusive, yet under-recognized in the medical profession and popular press. ISHK launched the Healing Brain Seminars which were attended by over 10,000 doctors, nurses and health professionals. The ISHK Book Service supports the publication and distribution of books and tapes in these fields; and ISHK publishes a quarterly Mind/Body Health Newsletter, edited by Dr. David Sobel, Director of Preventative Medicine, Kaiser Permanente. Today, in part due to the work of ISHK, the link between the mind, body and health is widely acknowledged
